Hastings C.2 WD479 at Topcliffe airfield.

The No.60 Maintenance Unit record book lists all the aeroplanes that they were tasked with making servicable in 1953. For this aircraft it states that it was servicable during the month of November 1953 at Topcliffe. It was presumably assessed as damaged there a few months prior to this. At the time it would have on charge with 24 Squadron. The unit was based at Topcliffe until 7th May 1953 when it moved to Abingdon. It seems most likely it was left at Topcliffe when the squadron moved south. What caused the damage assessment to be made is not known.
