This aircraft had a Cat.3R damage assessment made against it on 28th July 1953. At the time the aircraft was on charge with No.215 Advanced Flying School and was based at Finningley. What caused the damage assessment to be made is not known. The No.60 Maintenance Unit record book lists all the aeroplanes that they were tasked with making servicable in 1953. It states that "Meteor VT417" was servicable during the month of November 1953 at Finningley. VT417 was a Fairey Firefly so this must be a typing error and relates to VZ417.
