The 60 Maintenance Unit record book (air29/2096) lists all the aeroplanes that they were tasked with making servicable in 1953. For this aircraft it states that it was ready during the month of March 1953 and they passed it as servicable at Dishforth. Given it would take time to repair it, any damage assessment would have taken place in 1952 or perhaps in early 1953. How it came to require a repair is not yet clear and this may not have been down to any flying related incident.
This aircraft was on charge with 30 Squadron at the time and was based at Benson. This squadron moved to Dishforth in April 1953.
