This aircraft had a Cat.2 damage assessment made against it on 7th March 1953 but what caused the assessment to be made is not known. At the time the aircraft was on charge with No.203 Advanced Flying School and was based at Driffield so any damage probably occurred there. On 8th June 1953 the damage assessment was upgraded to Re.Cat.4R and it was then sent to Gloster Aircraft Ltd for a repair in works.
