On 8th August 1953 this 215 Advanced Flying School aircraft suffered the ventral tank explode in the air owing to over-pressurisation. The aircraft received some damage to the lower fuselage though the pilot went on to land at Finningley airfield. The aircraft was repaired by 60 MU at Finningley and was servicable in October 1953.
