This aircraft had a Cat.4R damage assessment made against it on 18th June 1953. At the time the aircraft was on charge with No.215 Advanced Flying School and was based at Finningley. What caused the damage assessment to be made is not known. It was transported to 32 MU at St.Athan for a repair in works in July 1953 but befoe the repair was complete the assessment was upgraded to Re.Cat.5(c) and it was struck off charge on 20th April 1954.
The No.215 AFS record book lists all flying related incidents and VT111 is not listed, possibly suggesting it was damage discovered during an inspection and not a flying related incident.
