On 31st December 1953 this 215 Advanced Flying School aircraft was being flown on one engine when the pilot made a landing around a mile short of Finningley airfield. Exactly what happened is unclear. It may have been flown on a single engine flying exercise at the time but for a forced landing to be made this would suggest the other engine had failed. The only reference in newspapers I have found stated that the landing was made in a ploughed field a mile from Finningley airfield but does not state where.
