Unidentified Meteor NF.11 damaged in the air, landed at Linton on Ouse airfield.

On 28th September 1953 a 264 Squadron Meteor NF.11 lost its canopy in flight in the Linton on Ouse area. The Meteor went on to land normally at Linton on Ouse where the unit was based. Later in the day 275 Squadron were asked to assist in locating the missing canopy. 275 Squadron operated Sycamore helicopters and would have been able to fly slow enough to be able to search for it from the air. 275 Squadron pilot F/Lt J M Hamilton took off with 264 Squadron's S/Ldr Tudor to attempt to locate canopy and found it in a field around 3 miles north of Easingwold. The helicopter landed in the field, it was picked it up and returned to Linton on Ouse.
