The only information I have found that mentions this incident is in the 275 Squadron record book. It states that on 24th September 1953 the Sycamore helicopter-equipped squadron were asked to help search for possible crashed Meteor F.8 and then a lost cockpit canopy which had come off the jet. The Meteor was flying in formation then seperated from the other aircraft and failed to answer radio calls. It was suspected to have crashed in the area north east of Linton on Ouse airfield. Sycamore XD196 from 275 Squadron was scrambled to search for the Meteor which subsequently then landed at Linton on Ouse with no canopy and which had severed the pilot's radio communication leads. Meteor F.8's were being flown by 66 Squadron and 92 Squadron at Linton on Ouse at that time.
