Meteor T.7 WL466 at Finningley airfield, (landed at Worksop airfield).

At the time of this incident this aircraft was in the process of being ferried to join No.211 Advanced Flying School at Worksop. It was a brand new aircraft and No.2 Home Ferry Unit (based at Aston Down) was tasked with delivering it. At the time this aircraft and at least one other new aircraft (Meteor WL465) were both heading toward other RAF units by No.2 HFU. WL466 was heading toward Worksop when, for some reason, this aircraft and WL465 both landed without incident at Finningley, possibly to refuel. Later on 3rd October 1952 WL466 attempted to take off from Finningley to make the short flight to Worksop but on taking off from Finningley it sank into the ground just after the undercarriage was raised. Minor damage to the engine nacelles occurred but the pilot was able to remain airborne then landed normally at Worksop. It was then taken on charge by 211 AFS but with a Cat.3R damage assessment was made, it was repaired on site by No.60 M.U. and was noted as servicable in December 1952.
