On 6th June 1952 a Central Gunnery School aircraft was struck by a bird on take off, probably at Leconfield airfield where the unit was based, and received minor damage. The unit records state it was "Meteor F.8 WH835" but WH835 was a Canberra. WH385 was a Meteor and is the likely identity.
