Meteor F.4 VW780 at Leconfield airfield.

On 26th January 1952 this Central Gunnery School aircraft crash landed at Leconfield airfield after one undercarriage leg jammed on the approach and the pilot went on to attempt to land on just one main wheel and the nose wheel. The port main plane and nacelle sustained damaged.

Pilot - F/O P L Lovegrove (probably F/O Peter Liddell Lovegrove RAF (1865295)).

On 12th February 1952 this officer landed Meteor RA478 on the long runway at Carnaby with no brakes after the brake cable snapped on take off from Catfoss, no further damage appears to have resulted and after repairs were made it was flown back to Catfoss.
