On Friday, 14th March 1952 Hastings TG562 was damaged. I have no documentary evidence to say where it was damaged. Others in the land of the internet state it crashed on take off at Topcliffe airfield while in the care of No.242 Operational Conversion Unit (who were based at Dishforth at the time) while there is also very specific information from a witness who stated it was damaged at Fayid, Eygpt (which is some distance from Topcliffe). I would tend to lean toward a witnesses testimony having some degree of accuracy.
