Meteor F.4 RA380 at Driffield.

On Wednesday, 15th July 1952 the pilot of this 203 Advanced Flying School aircraft was making an apprach to land at Driffield airfield at night when it collided with a visiting Anson VP515. The Anson pilot was able to remain in control and landed safely at Driffield airfield. The Meteor crash landed in a field between the airfield and Driffield town. It touched down in a grass field around 200 yards west of Kings Mill House but ran into a clump of trees. The nose went between two trees that were in it's path which damaged the aircraft considerably but saved the cockpit from the worst of it. The pilot received injuries but got out of the cockpit and was then found walking back to the airfield. He was then transported to hospital with arm and eye injuries. The more modern bypass to the west of Driffield may have come close or gone through this crash site.

Pilot - P/O J R Dennis (possibly P/O John Robert Dennis RAF (2511458)). Injured.
