The 60 Maintenance Unit record book (air29/2039) lists all the aeroplanes that they were tasked with making servicable. For this aircraft it states that it was ready during the month of November 1952 and they repaired it at Topcliffe. At the time Oxford HM870 was on charge with the Station Flight, Topcliffe and based at Topcliffe. It presumably had a damage assessment made against it either earlier in 1952 or perhaps in 1951 but when this was is not known. How it came to require a repair is not yet clear and this may not have been down to any flying related incident.
