On 20th June 1952 this No.14 Advanced Flying Training School aircraft was flying in the landing circuit of Holme on Spalding Moor airfield when the pilot of Oxford HM961 abandoned a landing attempt on the airfield. As Oxford HM961 was then put into a climb and the pilot failed to see Oxford AT781 above him and a collision occurred. HM961 lost its tail and then crashed with fatal resulted but the pilot of Oxford AT781 was able to regain control and land safely on the airfield.
