Unidentified Anson near Rainton.

On Thursday, 14th January 1952 an Avro Anson was flown from Turnhouse to Dishforth and landed. Just before 21.00hrs it took off from Dishforth to fly back to Turnhouse but the pilot found the aircraft would not climb. He raised the undercarriage and made a forced landing off Carr Lane, Rainton. Neither of the two crew were injured and they spent the night at the Lamb Inn, Rainton while the aircraft had a guard placed on it.

The aircraft was probably one from No.66 Group Communications Flight who were based at Turnhouse but the serial number of the aircraft is not known.
