Meteor T.7 WF793 at Linton on Ouse airfield.

On 9th May 1951 this aircraft had a Cat.3R damage assessment made against it. Modern Air Britain records state that at the time it was on charge with No.502 Squadron who were based at Aldergrove so on the face of it the damage may have occurred in Northern Ireland but, the No.60 Maintenance Unit record book (air29/2039) lists all the aeroplanes that they were tasked with making servicable. For this aircraft it states that it was ready during the month of June 1951 and they repaired it at Linton on Ouse. The unit records do not have any mention of any Meteor incident and they do not appear to have flown Meteors either. How it came to require a repair is not yet clear and this may not have been down to any flying related incident.

It was probably a 64 Squadron aircraft not a 502 Squadron aircraft. I need to prove this though.
