Meteor F.8 WE882 damaged in the air, (probably) landed at Leconfield airfield.

On 29th August 1951 Meteor WE882, of the Central Gunnery School, collided with the target drogue during an air to air firing practice. Minor damage resulted and the aircraft went on to land safely, probably at Leconfield where the unit was based, where it was assessed as having Cat.3R damage. The aircraft appears to have been repaired on site and was complete on 19th October 1951. The incident does not appear in the unit ORB despite it being very detailed around this time and I do not know why.

Pilot - F/Lt G R Elliott.
