Meteor F.8 WE858 at Linton on Ouse airfield.

The 60 Maintenance Unit record book (air29/2039) lists all the aeroplanes that they were tasked with making servicable. For this aircraft it states that it was ready during the month of August 1951 and they repaired it at Linton on Ouse. At the time Meteor WE858 was on charge with No.64 Squadron and based at Linton on Ouse. It presumably had a damage assessment made against it in 1951 but when this was is not known. How it came to require a repair is not yet clear and this may not have been down to any flying related incident. he No.64 Squadron records state that during the third week of July 1951 "another two aircraft became unservicable, Cat.3, with cracked rear spars". It seems possible that this was one of the aircraft.
