Meteor F.8 WB112 damaged in the air, landed at Rufforth airfield.

On 27th November 1951 this 66 Squadron aircraft suffered an engine fire and then engine failure on take off from Linton on Ouse airfield. The pilot managed to get the aircraft into the air but a strong cross wind on the runway in use there saw him divert to nearby Rufforth airfield and make a landing there. It suffered damage to the engine nacelle. A Cat.3R damage assessment was made and it was repaired on site by 60 M.U. with it servicable in February 1952.
