Meteor F.8 WA780 at Linton on Ouse airfield.

On 23rd June 1951 this aircraft had a Cat.3R damage assessment made against it, at the time the aircraft was on charge with No.66 Squadron and based at Linton on Ouse. The No.60 Maintenance Unit record book (air29/2039) lists all the aeroplanes that they were tasked with making servicable. For this aircraft it states that it was ready during the month of August 1951 and they repaired it at Linton on Ouse airfield. How it came to require a repair is not yet clear and this may not have been down to any flying related incident. The No.66 Squadron records state that "toward the end of the month nearly half the squadron aircraft were grounded, either A.O.G. or Cat.3" but does not go into detail.
