The Central Gunnery School record book (AIR29/2314) gives very basic information that on 28th February 1951 Vampire "UX980" aircraft received damage. UX980 was never assigned to an aircraft by VX980 was and is probably the correct identity of the aircraft damaged as it was with this unit. Given the unit was based at Leconfield it probably occurred there.
