The 60 Maintenance Unit record book (air29/2039) lists all the aeroplanes that they were tasked with making servicable. For this aircraft it states that it was ready during the month of August 1951 and they repaired it at Leconfield. At the time Vampire VX977 was on charge with the Central Gunnery School and based at Leconfield. It presumably had a damage assessment made against it in 1951 but when this was is not known. How it came to require a repair is not yet clear and this may not have been down to any flying related incident. CGS
