The 60 Maintenance Unit record book (air29/2039) lists all the aeroplanes that they were tasked with making servicable. It states that "Valetta VW260" was ready during the month of November 1951 and they repaired it at Dishforth. VW260 cannot be correct as this aircraft had already been written off in 1949. The correct identity was probably Valetta VW860 which was a No.242 Operational Conversion Unit aircraft and was based at Dishforth at the time. How it came to require a repair is not yet clear and this may not have been down to any flying related incident.
