The 60 Maintenance Unit record book (air29/2039) lists all the aeroplanes that they were tasked with making servicable. It states that "Valetta VW852" was ready during the month of April 1952 and they repaired it at Dishforth. VW852 was not allocated as a serial number though, so what this aircraft actually was is unclear. At the time the Valetta was almost certainly on charge with No.242 Operational Conversion Unit and based at Dishforth. It presumably had a damage assessment made against it at some stage in 1951 or early-1952 but when this was is not known. How it came to require a repair is not yet clear and this may not have been down to any flying related incident.
