The 60 Maintenance Unit record book (air29/2039) lists all the aeroplanes that they were tasked with making servicable. For this aircraft it states that it was ready during the month of July 1951 and they repaired it at Rufforth. At the time Valetta VW809 was on charge with No.242 Operational Conversion Unit and based at Dishforth. It presumably had a damage assessment made against it in early 1951 but when this was is not known. How it came to require a repair is not yet clear and this may not have been down to any flying related incident.
