Meteor F.4 VW298 at Neasham airfield.

During the afternoon on 20th August 1951 this 205 Advanced Flying School aircraft undeshot on landing at Neasham airfield which slightly damaged the aircraft. The pilot may have got the aircraft back into the air and then landed normally because a short time later it was being taxied around the airfield to a dispersal when it collided with a bowser at Neasham airfield. Repairable damage resulted. The unit was based at Middleton St.George but had the use of Neasham airfield as a relief landing ground, this was the airfield previously known as Croft.

Michael Rogers was killed on 25th September 1951 when Meteor VT324 crashed at Stanley, Durham. He was 22 years old and is buried at West Cemetery, Darlington.
