In May 1951 this 613 Squadron aircraft suffered a problem with the nose wheel prior to landing at Leconfield airfield. It either would not lower or collapsed on landing, the end result was that the aircraft was then damaged when it landed. 613 Squadron were based at Ringway airfield and were in the process of converting to fly Vampires at the time of the incident having been taken off Spitfires. It was repaired on site and returned to 613 Squadron. The squadron records do not mention the incident.
