On 6th June 1951 the pilot of this 609 Squadron aircraft made a belly landing in error at Church Fenton airfield. The pilot later stated that he was having a problem with the flap lever on the approach to land and had attempted to fly an overshoot but the aircraft had lost took much height. This incident occurred a few minutes before the arrival of Air Marshal Sir Basil Embry, Commander in Chief of Fighter Command.
