Spitfire LF.XVI TE349 at Finningley airfield.

On 3rd May 1951 this No.101 Flying Refresher School aircraft was being taxied around Finningley airfield too fast when the pilot braked hard to avoid a collision with a stationary Harvard. The tail of the Spitfire rose into the air and the propeller hit the ground.

Pilot - Cadet Zohair (Saudi Arabian Air Force).


The pilot of this Spitfire may have been Asaad Abdelaziz al-Zuhair who would rise to become the Commander of the Royal Air Force (Saudi Arabia).
