On 25th May 1951 this No.101 Flying Refresher School aircraft was being flown on a training exercise with part of the exercise including the instructor demonstrating a precautionary landing on the airfield at Finningley. While the aircraft was making an approach to land at Finningley airfield and as it neared the airfield boundary a downdraft caused it to loose height. Despite the instructor applying more power he could not prevent it striking the top of the boundary hedge.
