This aircraft had a Cat.3R/FA damage assessment made against it on 15th March 1951. At the time Mosquito RL173 was on charge with No.228 Operational Conversion Unit and based at Leeming. The 60 Maintenance Unit record book (air29/2039) lists all the aeroplanes that they were tasked with making servicable. For this aircraft it states that it was ready during the month of May 1951 and they repaired it at Leeming. How it came to require a repair is not yet clear but it may well have been a flying related incident.
