On 24th May 1951 this 228 Operational Conversion Unit aircraft made a belly landing at night on the airfield at Leeming airfield when the undercarriage failed. The pilot was undertaking night fighter training at the time. The damaged aircraft was later transported by road to the Brooklands factory and received a repair in works.
