The 228 Operational Conversion Unit record book makes mention that during December 1951 one of their aircraft was damaged when it's pilot accidentally retracted the undercarriage whilst taxying at Leeming airfield. The aircraft was probably one of their Mosquitos. Searching through some of the AM Form 78's; Mosquito NF.36 RK992 sustained a Cat.3/FA damage on what appears to have been 27th December 1951.
The 60 Maintenance Unit record book (air29/2039) lists all the aeroplanes that they were tasking with making servicable. For Mosquito RK992 it states that it was ready during the month of April 1952 and they repaired it at Leeming. How it came to require a repair is not yet clear and this may not have been down to any flying related incident.
Pilot - Name unknown.
