On 27th September 1951 this 611 Squadron aircraft undershot on landing at night at Church Fenton airfield and hit the airfield landing lights. The damage was later repaired. 611 Squadron were based at Hooton Park but during this period were on a detachment to Church Fenton where they carried out ground controlled approach training and also night flying training. Their record book makes mention of there being more than one aircraft damaged on 27th September 1951, both during the night and both appear to have been due to the sodium approach lighting system flaws at Church Fenton.
