Wellington T.10 PF989 near Finningley.

On 26th November 1951 this No.101 Flying Refresher School aircraft was being flown on a training flight that involved single engine circuit flying and landing practice. While making a circuit of the airfield and flying downwind of the airfield the aircraft began to loose height. The pilot attempted to unfeather the dead engine but it continued to lose height so was force landed around a mile short of the airfield in a ploughed field. The incident may have occurred around a mile east of the airfield which may put it as being in Lincolnshire.

Pilot - F/Lt Oldham.
