Tiger Moth T.2 T9429 at Linton on Ouse airfield.

On 18th October 1951 Mosquito RL230 of 264 Squadron crashed near Pickhill, north-west of Thirsk killing both crew. A short time later the squadron's Commanding Officer along with another officer intended on flying the Linton on Ouse Station Flight's Tiger Moth aircraft from their base at Linton on Ouse to the crash site to locate and observe it but while taking off from Linton on Ouse airfield it failed to lift and collided with a cement mixer in the centre of the airfield.

Pilot - S/Ldr William Edward Thomas RAF (60824).

Passenger - F/Lt Temple.

On paper this aircraft had joined the Coltishall Station Flight on 17th July 1951 which was where 264 Squadron were based at that time. They later moved to Linton on Ouse and would appear to have taken this aircraft with them.
