Unidentified Mosquito at Leeming airfield.

The 228 Operational Conversion Unit record book makes mention that during December 1951 one of their aircraft was damaged when it's pilot accidentally retracted the undercarriage whilst taxying at Leeming airfield. The aircraft was probably one of their Mosquitos.

Searching through some of the AM Form 78's; Mosquito NF.36 RK992 sustained a Cat.3/FA damage on what appears to have been 29th December 1951 and it may well relate to this flying accident. Mosquito NF.36 RL179 received a damage assessment of Cat.4/FA damage on 1st December 1951 and this well may be the aircraft involved. If neither is not the incident logged in the unit records they both were possibly flying accidents at Leeming.
