Meteor T.7 WA653 damaged in the air, (probably) landed at Driffield airfield.

On 30th June 1950 this No.203 Advanced Flying School aircraft was flown on a formation flying exercise by an instructor and while making a roll the starboard undercarriage door opened and the leg lowered. The pilot managed to get the undercarriage to retract but went on to make a belly landing which caused more damage. The landing probably occurred at Driffield airfield where the unit was based although it also used Carnaby airfield as a relief landing ground. The 203 AFS record book scribe did a poor job of recording their flying accidents around this time in respect of recording where each incident occurred. The record book does note that he was commended for his actions in bringing down an aircraft a few weeks prior to this one in similar circumstances and was perhaps the one on 10th May 1950.
