On 10th July 1950 this No.203 Advanced Flying School aircraft was being flown on a formation flying exercise with an instructor at the controls when it became difficult to control. He immediately descended but was struggling to keep in control, while he made an approach to land he then made a landing in a field short of the airfield with the undercarriage retracted. The incident probably occurred at Driffield airfield where the unit was based although it also used Carnaby airfield as a relief landing ground. The aircraft had a Cat.3R damage assessment made against it.
