Meteor F.4 VZ415 at Linton on Ouse airfield.

On 10th October 1950 this 66 Squadron aircraft suffered an undercarriage leg jamming on the approach to land at Linton on Ouse airfield. The pilot raised the other legs and belly landed on the airfield. The squadron took part in Operation Emperor around this date which involved exercises at high level with B.29's down to low level attacked. It is possible that it was landing following a flight as part of this exercise. The aircraft appears to have been repaired.

Pilot - Sgt Joseph Harrington (1676198).

Joseph Harrington later baled out of Meteor RA487 over the Peak District and the aircraft crashed near Derwent Reservoir.
