Believed to have been on 13th December 1950 this aircraft appears to have suffered an engine fire in the air during a training exercise with No.203 Advanced Flying School. The pilot managed to land safely and the damage was repaired. The landing was possibly made back at Driffield where the unit was based. I add some large question marks to this incident occurring with 203 AFS because their orb lists all their flying accidents and incidents, albeit with aircraft identities missing. This incident is not recorded in the unit's record book which may suggest it was not with 203 AFS. Obtaining the aircraft's AM Form 78 may help answer some questions.
The damage to the aircraft was assessed as being Cat.4R and it was transported to 32 MU at St.Athan for repair in works on 22nd February 1951.
