Vampire F.1 VF270 (probably) at Driffield airfield.

On 4th July 1950 this No.203 Advanced Flying School aircraft was being taxied to a dispersal point on the airfield when the brakes failed. Unfortunately the pilot was unable to prevent the Vampire colliding with a stationary Meteor VW455 that resulted in minor damage to both aircraft. VF270 had a Cat.2 damage assessment made against it. The incident probably occurred at Driffield airfield where the unit was based although it also used Carnaby airfield as a relief landing ground.

Pilot - Name unknown.
