Vampire Mk.1 TG435 (probably) at Driffield airfield.

On 9th March 1950 this No.203 Advanced Flying School aircraft collided with what was described as "the High Intensity Lighting" on landing causing damage to the aircraft. The incident probably occurred at Driffield airfield where the unit was based although it also used Carnaby airfield as a relief landing ground. The 203 AFS record book scribe did a poor job of recording their flying accidents around this time in respect of identifying the aircraft involved and where each incident occurred. More information is required.

Pilot - Name unknown.

Following this incident a repair on site was began by 60 MU on 13th March 1950 but something must have been found once this started because it was given a Re-Cat.4R damage assessment on 24th May 1950 that saw it transported the DeHavilland Ltd at Hatfield for a repair in works.
