On the night of 28th / 29th August 1950 the crew of this 264 Squadron aircraft were having problems with the radio equipment as they made an approach to land. At around half a mile from the airfield the starboard engine failed while the pilot was making a turn to line the aircraft up with the runway for a final approach. The pilot attempted to land straight ahead in the undershoot area but as he descended the aircraft struck the airfield approach lights and crashed. The aircraft broke up but the crew escaped with minor injuries.
