Hornet F.3 PX303 at Linton on Ouse airfield.

On 4th September 1950 this 65 Squadron aircraft came in too low to land at Linton on Ouse airfield during a night landing and struck runway lighting poles in the undershoot area. The aircraft crashed and caught fire possibly just inside the aircraft boundary. The wreckage was still there later in the day when Hornet PX359 swung on take off and collided with the remains of it.

Pilot - P.2 A Wood.

This pilot was posted in to 65 Squadron during December 1949. He had been involved in another Hornet crash on 9th February 1950 at Leeming. He later left in January 1952 to take up flying instructor duties and the Central Flying School. I have not yet been able to fully identify him.
