Unidentified Meteor T.7 damaged in the air, (probably) landed at Driffield airfield.

During a high speed run and while being flown by a student at 8,000 feet on 15th May 1950 a loud bang was heard in this No.203 Advanced Flying School aircraft. The starboard wing immediately dropped and the aircraft began to fall in a spiral dive to starboard. The instructor was able to regain control and a normal landing was made, stated to have been at base. An inspection found that the port undercarriage door had partially opened during the high speed run and minor damage resulted. The landing probably occurred at Driffield airfield where the unit was based although it also used Carnaby airfield as a relief landing ground. The 203 AFS record book scribe did a poor job of recording their flying accidents around this time in respect of identifying the aircraft involved and where each incident occurred.
