Mosquito T.3 VA873 at Linton on Ouse airfield.

The pilot of this 64 Squadron aircraft was attempting to take off from Linton on Ouse airfield on 12th August 1949 when it began to swing. The pilot appears to have then overcorrected the swing, possibly twice, but the undercarriage collapsed. 64 Squadron was predominantly a Hornet squadron but they used the Mosquito for dual instruction training flights. The damage to VA873 was assessed as being Cat.E/FA and it was struck off charge on 24th October 1949.
