Hornet F.3 PX307 at Church Fenton airfield.
On 11th January 1949 this 41 Squadron was having the engines run up on the ground at Church Fenton airfield prior to a flight when the engine oversped and it jumped the chocks, it ran forward and struck Hornet PX277. A member of ground staff sustained minor injuries. The squadron records do not mention the incident but they do state that on this date the squadron undertook a practice interception exercise with USAF B.29s and also air to ground firing exercises on the Skipsea range. This aircraft appears to have sustained damage that saw it written off.
